Dixie- ADOPTED!!

Dixie was an adored member of her family and tragically her dad fell seriously ill. Now she needs a home without another dog or cat because she is reactive, but will get better in time. Freckles - ADOPTED!!

Freckles is probably some sort of Beagle/pointer mix male. He loves, loves to play with his pal who is a year old heeler. Freckles leaves cats alone, so that is a good thing! He loves kids too...great family dog.

Milo-ADOPTED!!

Milo came over to play with all of our dogs last night and had a blast. He is 11 months old and only weighs 20 lbs and will not get much bigger, if at all. The only apps I have had on him are  people with no other dogs, and a cat. This will not work. He LOVES playing and running with other dogs so that will be crucial. Otis-ADOPTED!!

Otis is a rat terrier , neutered and mostly housebroken but needs a tune up. He is currently at a foster with other dogs and cats. Apparently he is rude to strange people and needs work on socialization. Otis was locked in a cage when we found him in a back room...family had moved so he was lonely and scared. Tessa- ADOPTED!!!!

Please do not hold her breed against her. Tessa is a loving, sweet three year old pittie who is obedient and smart. She adores people and minds so well. She seems to be mostly housebroken, but needs some tuning up which should be the new owner's responsibility. Tessa was once a family dog with kids, other dogs and cats and along came a divorce and she was forced outside in a dirty pen for two years. Now she is here and loving her freedom. She is a brindle fawn color...really gorgeous and needs a home with a lot of attention. Her one issue is she is barrier aggressive...meaning she throws herself against her fence if another dog is coming at her. Once out of her gate, she frolics happily with all of the dogs. She is very strong but walks well on a leash. We love her...and so will you.

Delilah- ADOPTED!!

Delilah is a gorgeous purebred six month old German Shepherd  female pup. She is spayed, current on shots and according to her temp foster, housebroken. She is good with all dogs and cats. "Della" loves to play and play and has tons of energy, but crashes and sleeps like a baby.

Kira-ADOPTED!!

Kira is a female 7 year old Shiba Inu . She needs to be an only dog. She is small weighing about 15 pounds. She is housebroken.

Lab pups- ALL ADOPTED!!

We have four lab/retriever pups here, two males and two females. They are now fixed and current on vaccines. They are healthy and playful....gorgeous pups relinquished by a breeder. 

Gigi and Jax -ADOPTED!!!!!

Gigi and Jax are two twelve week old Shih Tzus. Gigi looks like a purebred, Jax a mix. They are now spayed and neutered and current on shots. They weigh about 6 lbs each and are absolutely stunning. These pups are bonded and will only be adopted together to a family with a fenced  yard. They were born here when mom was brought to me, pregnant, and rescued from an auction. The pups are  healthy and happy!!!

Kirby - ADOPTED!!!

Kirby is a spayed 58 lb shepherd mix.Her owners feel she is too energetic for them. She loves people and loves to play and is now in training classes. She is housebroken and very healthy. I see a dog who would thrive in a home with older kids and lots of activity.

Chewy- ADOPTED!!!

Chewy is a six year old chi mix. He is friendly and will make a perfect companion as an only dog, or one other. He is housebroken, fun and a bit pudgy at 17 lbs but is adorable. He is leash trained and loves walks. He is nervous around small children, but older one are fine.He is the perfect companion for someone who is home alot and needs a friend.

Dottie- ADOPTED!

My  name is Dottie and I am a three year old German Shorthaired Pointer. I am not spayed, but that will get done, but I am housebroken, and live with  kids, dogs and cats and love them all. However, I ate some chicken eggs and my owners need to find me a new home. Their efforts at keeping me away from them have failed but I will not fail you as a perfect family pet!

Lexi- ADOPTED!!

Lexi will not be ready for about four weeks. She needs to gain weight and be spayed. She is a year old purebred and housebroken, but too thin. Lexi is gentle and affectionate and no aggression at all. She is a bit timid but warms up really fast. She has always been an indoor dog, but her owner is ill and cannot keep her

Angel- ADOPTED!

She is a 2 yr old spayed Golden Doodle who needs a new home. Her  parents are senior citizens and have declining health. They love her but keep falling down when walking her as she is  strong and lively. Angel does not do well with cats or small dogs as she gets too rough. She is housebroken, loving, fun and will make a young couple a great pet!! She is timid and  takes awhile to trust  you.

Lobo- ADOPTED!!!

Lobo  is back at SCARS after 3 years, but in better condition than when he arrived the first time. When we got him he was starving, had a chain embedded in his neck and twisted wires around the chain...what a mess. We got him healthy, neutered and socialized and adopted. BUT now he has been returned. The owner says he is better with female dogs than males and would be fine as an only dog. Isn't he gorgeous?

Pico- ADOPTED!!

Pico came from a puppy mill where we believe he was abused...possibly hit in the head. Where he is fine most of the time, playful and sweet, he can be very grouchy and growly for no reason. He is easily distracted but he is a dog for someone seasoned in this kind of small dog. He is not for someone expecting a predictable sunny personality but he adores being a lap dog and would be happy to be petted all day long.

Snoopy- ADOPTED!!!

Snoopy is a 30 lbs exuberant puppy. He loves everyone but is a bit too puppyish. He is very energetic and jumps around, but really well behaved in the house. I have left him most of the day and he never moved from the couch. Of course, he gets tons of exercise here on 50 acres with two ponds so he would have to be kept busy. He needs another friend to play with so do not fill out an application if he would be an only dog.

Wilbur and Orville

These two males are now 6 months old and weigh about 30 lbs.. They are up to date on shots, neutered and bonded therefore we are looking for a home together. Wilbur is the black one and is more timid and relies on Orville for his confidence. They are probably lab/pit mixes and are totally non aggressive and do well with other dogs and love kids. I suspect they will not get over 35-40 lbs when they are full grown.

Chief- ADOPTED!!!

Chief is a 7 month old pit bull mix terrier....have no idea what he is mixed with! He weighs about 40 lbs now and is very shy initially. Once he gets to know you , he gets super excited and wants to jump around on your lap. He is not leashed trained and definitely needs to have some kind of training and lots of exercise. He has been in a small pen with three siblings and we think he was picked on. He will take a loving, patient family who will work with him. He is really adorable!!!

Gabby & Sunshine- ADOPTED!!!

Who is up for a bonded pair? Remember, two is easier than one. They  keep each other company,  play together, sleep together and when you are gone, they are not lonely.

Enter Gabby and Sunshine, a mom and daughter combo. They are both registered Shih Tzu dogs, mom is seven, daughter is two. However, they are very lively and race around so I would not recommend them for anyone who is not mobile or active. Once you get them on your lap, they love to be lap dogs but not all of the time. These two cuties are spayed and current on shots. PLEASE do NOT make your first question "Are they housebroken?" Let's get serious here. I take in dogs who are a mess physically and usually need grooming, full medical, socializing and does one really expect me to add to my list of  caring for 50 dogs,  housebreak them also! I can tell  you they both use the doggie door and beyond that, I refuse to answer any questions in that area!! Be happy they are healthy, happy, lively and loving. That in itself is a miracle.

Vader- ADOPTED!!!

Vader is a gorgeous 7 month old black German Shepherd. He is still puppyish so should not be with small children as he might be too strong. He is fine with other dogs. He is neutered and current on shots, playful and loving and around 60 lbs. If interested in this gorgeous boy, fill out an application.

Wanda-ADOPTED!

Wanda (needs new name) just turned seven and is a purebred Papillon. She was given up by the breeder (yay!!) because she only produced one pup...smart gal. She is spayed and current on shots and the sweetest thing in the world. She is timid, but loves to sit in your lap but she runs around the house with lots of energy. They have a lifespan of around 15 yrs.

Dolly - ADOPTED!!

Dolly is our mystery dog. Her microchip says she is 7, the papers from the vet say she is three! She is somewhere in between. She was bought at an auction to rescue herfrom being in a cage forever and perhaps the microchip is wrong...she does not look or act 7. Dolly is shy at first and children must approach her carefully. She is lively, and likes to run around and she plays well with other dogs. I think she is just the perfect companion and would do well with a single person who is home a lot. She does not need another dog.

Paddington- ADOPTED!!

Paddington is a purebred 4 month old Shih Tzu puppy. He is liver and white with a soft fluffy coat. He looks like a stuffed animal who moves! Paddy was rescued from a breeder's auction to keep him from a life in a cage as just a breeder dog. Now he can be a real dog and love life and play. We will not consider a home without another dog.

Snow- ADOPTED!!

We call her Snow. She appears to be around 2-3 yrs old and gentle. The owner surrendered her  up at a lake because he was "going to shoot her." The people who heard him said they would take  her and he let her go...thank goodness. They brought her home and called us. They said she is fine with other dogs, good with cats and kids and obviously a Great Pyrenees. However, we are too too full. I need to get her to the vet to see if she is spayed (I doubt it) and get her shots.

Crikey-ADOPTED!!!

Purebred tri color Australian Shepherd. he is 1 and half years old. 45 pounds and neutered. Mostly house broken. House training will be on the new family. Love other dogs and kids. Will require exercise, like most of his breed.

Frankie-ADOPTED!!!

Frankie is a blind 3 year old shih tzu who will need a patient loving home. Frankie is from a puppy mill. He was no longer wanted, so he is now here at scars. Super gentle and loving. Frankie will be vetted and fixed prior to being re homed.

Mork- ADOPTED!!!

This is Mork....super original name, right?? He is a Morkie which is a Maltese/Yorkie mix. Mork is 3-1/2 months old, weighing in at a whopping 4 lbs, neutered and current on shots. He is also a livewire....loves to race around and play with other dogs. So, any family interested needs to have another dog for Mork to play with. PLEASE do not ask the two standard questions. 1. is  he housebroken? How do we know with so many dogs...but you can do it! 2. How is he with cats? His foster has no cats. How much harm can a 4 lb puppy do to a cat??

Buddy- ADOPTED!!!

Buddy is a 3 year old purebred male Yorkshire terrier. He is up to date on vaccines and neutered  He is 11 pounds and would be a great lap dog. Buddy can be timid at first, but a great addition to the family.

Sam- ADOPTED!!!

Sam is a 20 lb male Rat Terrier!! He will be neutered on Friday and is already current on shots. He is super friendly and fun, and loves everyone. This little guy really just wants to be petted and hugged, plus he loves to run and play but does not stray far. He is five months old and absolutely adorable.

Betsy - ADOPTED!!!

Betsy is blue heeler mix. She is 3 years old, housebroken, and spayed. She loves kids and playing ball. Betsy is afraid of men and would do great in a female dominant household. We currently do not know how she is with other dogs, so a single dog household is preferred.

Boomer - ADOPTED!!!!

Boomer is a 1 year old male Yorkie mix. Boomer is outgoing and would love someone who can show him some attention. Boomer will be up to date on vaccinations and fully vetted.

Robin- ADOPTED!!!

Robin is a five year old purebred Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. She loves everyone, is happy and outgoing. When kids come, she runs to them wagging her tail. The breeder released her because she was not "producing." When we got her I noticed right away she would squat several times to go potty, so when we had her spayed and got a dental, i asked the vet to check it out. What she found, and removed, was a LARGE bladder stone. We are waiting for the results of the stone to find out if she needs to be on a special diet.. It should be another week or two. In the meantime, she plays all day and joins all of us at the pond, Needless to say, she will be the best companion ever!!

Lucy- ADOPTED!!

Lucy is a German wired haired pointer. She could possibly be mixed with some lab. She is around a year old and fully vaccinated along with being spayed as well. Lucy is around 45 pounds. We do not think she will get any bigger. She is good with kids, LOVES swimming, good around dogs if there is not too many. Lucy appears housebroken, however that is on the family for training.

Muffin & Waffle- ADOPTED!

13 weeks, purebred Standard Poodle males. Neutered, all vaccines and groomed. Wonderful , fun dispositions...loves other dogs and people of all ages. Very outgoing and playful but not hyper. Needs exercise and , if separated, must go to a home with another friendly dog. At this time they both weigh 17 lbs

Winkle- ADOPTED!

It seems puppy mill dogs are coming my way, and I know who brings them! (mum's the word) Winkle is yet another pup rescued by an angel who saw him at an auction last month in KC when 300 dogs were shipped from Oklahoma after a breeder was FINALLY shut down by the USDA. He was so timid and terrified, he hid in my closet until I found a great foster for him in a quieter environment. He is an Aussie/Pom mix and his foster has two aussies and she reports he is beginning to bloom. Winkle, as she named him, is now barking to go inside and once there, he watches the world go by. It will take someone with patience and more patience to bring him out of his shell which  he might go into when in a new  home. We will not be accepting applications as an only dog. He weighs 10 lbs and is 2 yrs old and neutered. Foster working on housebreaking, but after all, the new family really must assume that responsibility.

Tessa- ADOPTED!

Tessa is a 7 year old purebred papillon who is energetic and loves to play with everyone. Tessa is up to date on her vaccines and spayed

Murray- ADOPTED!

Two weeks ago a friend of mine went to an auction in KC...she does transport for Westie rescue back East and while there, felt it imperative to save two dogs from an even worse situation then they were in...going to yet another greedy and uncaring breeder. They had numbers on tight little chains around their neck, and this little guy is number 54. His pal, number 3 was adopted today, and Murray is  greatly missing his friend. Murray's papers say he is a 3 yr old Shih Tzu who is now neutered and has been groomed. He is looking a bit rough because his body was long and matted, and someone had shaved his face before the auction. Our groomer evened him up and he will be gorgeous when everything grows out and matches. Most of the mill dogs we get are terrified and shrink from people, but Murray blossomed after about three days and now prances around and wags his tail continually....loving everyone he meets. He weighs around 12 lbs and has a beautiful curly gray and white fluffy coat. I  love it when people ask me if he gets along with other dogs, and I ask if 50 is enough to make a determination. Cats...we do not have any. I doubt he is Cujo around cats and he is not housebroken. How could he be???? His adoption fee is higher than usual because we have to reimburse the woman who bought him. So, we can discuss his fee with serious people...not just window shoppers!!

Harley - ADOPTED!!

Harley Is a precious two-year-old neutered Chihuahua. He is very sweet, gentle, not barky, and not nippy but should be handled carefully because he is so tiny.

Delilah - ADOPTED!!

Delilah is a 5 year old puppy mill dog. She will have to have a very smart and experienced owner to help her come out of her shell and learn how to be a house dog.

Kylee -ADOPTED!!

Kylee is 7 months old and energetic. She came from a family with children and was crated so she needs a lot of exercise. Kylee is friendly and playful and would benefit from having another doggie friend who can play with her. She weighs about 40lbs and has a glassy black curly coat.

Ripley - ADOPTED!!!

Ripley is a 6 mo old registered female Rottweiler. She is spayed and current on vaccines and comes with papers. Ripley is fine with kids, cats and other dogs. She has been crated too much and has a lot of energy which she runs off here on our 50 acres. She needs another dog to play with who can wear her out, and a family who has time to acclimate her to their home. No underground fences, no shock collars, and no crating. Her owners said she was housebroken, but will probably need brushing up which we feel is the responsibility of the new family.

Mickey- ADOPTED!

Mickey is an 18 lb neutered male purebred Lhasa Apso. He was rescued from a puppy mill at an auction and has spent his three years in a cage. He still loves people and is ready to be someone's lap dog. He seems to do great with kids and other dogs, but since he was just neutered, he is not yet housebroken. Patience and love is the key!!!

Jett- ADOPTED!!

Jett is most probably a purebred black lab about a year and a half old. He is neutered and perfectly behaved. He is good with kids, does not jump a fence and no bark yet! No info on cats...we do not have any here. He is still too thin, but gaining slowly and has energy to run like a jet! He flies across our fields with all of our dogs racing behind him...no one can catch him. We adore him...just wish all of our dogs were this good. Oh yes, he did tear up a doggie bed so he is not perfect, but close.

Annie- ADOPTED!!

Annie came to us in a state of severe starvation. She was literally a rack of bones. The vet could not even give her vaccines  until she gained weight, so I went into overdrive. I cooked rice, ground beef, boiled chicken, etc and fed her four times a day. In addition, she was heavily  matted and one of our volunteers worked for hours until she was able to be professionally groomed. She had whip worms and had to be treated for that. Finally, she has been spayed and current on all shots and heartworm negative. Annie is such a delight....we adore her and she will only go to a home where she will be spoiled and loved. Annie weighs 18 lbs now  and is  a purebred miniature Schnauzer, and I cannot say she is totally housebroken, so if that is a requirement, please pass on this dog and all of our dogs. I never give a guarantee. I feel we take in dogs, give medical care, rehabilitate and socialize them so the new family must take on responsibility for training.

Theo - ADOPTED!!

Theo is around a year old and was brought to us due to the family not being able to keep up with the responsibilities. Theo is placed in a foster home and loving every minute of it! He loves to play, but is a little on the shy side. Will need a patient family to help him come out of his shell.

Jasmine- ADOPTED!!

If you are looking for an adorable, all around lovable puppy, Jasmine is surely the one for you. She is a shepherd mix of some sort...who knows. She is your all around Heinz 57 variety. Jasmine weighs 20 lbs, is about 4-5 months old and will be spayed on Monday. I am guessing she will probably not be more than 30 lbs but not sure. She adores other dogs, plays with all of them...large  and small...and loves to run and play in the fields. Jasmine must go to a home with another dog..or two. She will not be adopted as an only dog. Ellie Mae - ADOPTED!!

recovering from surgery. A one year old, has been spayed and her cherry eye removed. She loves to run and play in spite of her deformed leg and shoulder, which is a birth defect. She weighs 12 lbs and loves everyone. It will take a patient home for her with another fun dog. Ellie Mae underwent spinal surgery at K State and is fully recovered. Although her one leg is crippled, she runs and plays with the best of them. However, she has no bowel control so this is a problem for most people! She is now 2 years old, spayed and not housebroken!

Sailor- ADOPTED!

Sailor is around 2-3 yrs old, neutered and current on shots. He is great with other dogs, lively and fine with kids. He needs older kids to play ball and run with him and he is strong!!! He weighs around 60 lbs and is a typical goofball lab!

Fonzie - ADOPTED!

Fonzie was adopted to a family with four year old twins. They adore him but mom was gone all day and the yard and house were small and he became bored and got to excited playing with the kids. Vinny - ADOPTED!

Vinny is a plump chihuahua around 12 lbs. He is neutered but not housebroken. I do not think it would be too hard to train him, but he was left outside around the clock. Vinny wants to sit on someone's lap 24/7 and be loved. He is especially affectionate and adorable. He will make someone a great companion!

Fifi - ADOPTED!!

Fifi is 8 yrs old and was released by the breeder. She is in good health and very lively and loves to play with other dogs and sit on your lap. She would be happy as a lap dog most of the time. Papillions live to be 15 or 18 years so she has a good long life ahead of her. She is having dental surgery Dec 18 to have all of her teeth cleaned and any removed if necessary so she will be in tip top shape!!

Lola - ADOPTED!!

Lola is a gentle, kind and well behaved twelve year old German Shepherd. Her owner moved and did not take her with him, so she is in need of a safe place to land. She is being fostered with other dogs and some cats and does wellwith them and children also. Despite her age, she is in good health and plays outside with the other dogs. However, she prefers to spend most of her time on the couch watching TV!!!

RALPHIE - ADOPTED!!

Ralphie is a two year old purebred St. Bernard who weighs 120 lbs. He is neutered and current on shots. Ralphie is housebroken, does fine with all sizes of dogs and not destructive in the house, and not a fence jumper. He is protective if strangers come and he is behind a fence. He has a fun disposition, plays with a ball all by himself and will retrieve it if you throw it. He loves to run, play and swim in the pond. He will make some experienced home a great companion!

Rico- ADOPTED!!!

Rico is a patterdale terrier/chihuahua mix male. He is two years old, neutered and weighs 15 lbs. Rico was found wandering down a country road and all attempts to find owners for several weeks failed. He is sweet and loving and energetic. We all think he is adorable.

Max -ADOPTED!!!!!

Max is a year old chihuahua neutered male. He weighs ten pounds and takes awhile to trust someone. He probably will not work in a home with young children. Max is current on shots and healthy. We think he is adorable.

Rocky - ADOPTED!!!!

This is Rocky and we do not know his breed! He seems to have some lab, some shepherd, some heeler and maybe a dash of boxer? He is 2 yrs old, neutered, mostly housebroken (needs a refresher course) and loves kids! He is good with other dogs also. Rocky needs an active family as he has tons of energy and will jump up and down with excitement...so a bit of training would not be a bad idea!!!

Blake- ADOPTED!!

Blake is a 1 - 1/2 yr old Pyrenees/border collie mix (with no traits of BC) who is neutered, and current on shots. He is mostly housebroken, but not 100% guarantees, and weighs 90 lbs. Blake is fine with kids, cats and all dogs. He is a gentle giant but will jump a 5 ft fence. He does not roam off but loves to run in the country!!!

Susie- ADOPTED!

Susie is 4 months old, weighs 8 pounds, spayed and current on shots. She is playful and loving and tons of fun. Her three legs do just great and she doesn't even know she is missing one. Susie is very lively and would benefit from another small dog as a playmate. I do not think a cat will do! 

Chevy- ADOPTED!!

Chevy is an 8 month old purebred chocolate lab male. He is good with kids, cats and other dogs. He weighs 80 lbs and is neutered and current on shots. Chevy has a lot of energy and needs someone who can run him and take him to the park, pond, etc.

Meet Maggie- ADOPTED!!



Maggie is an interesting mix...maybe rat terrier? Border Collie? not sure what else...curly tail? Anyway, she is supposedly housebroken and up to date on shots and soayed .I am guessing aound 22lbs. She is very affectionate and needs someone around as she screeches when left alone. She eventually quiets down. She is not hyper and would make a great companion. She is not reccommended for young children. 

Meet Boots- ADOPTED!

Boots is a 1 year old neutered male aussie/maybe Beagle mix. He weighs 26 lbs and is a great dog. He gets along with other dogs and kids, and I cannot think he would have a problem with cats. Boots is playful, but not hyper, and obedient. He is really a great dog and needs another dog to play with. 



Meet Red- ADOPTED!

Red was left to starve in a dirt pen and rescued after being there most of the winter. When I picked him up and took him to the vet, I was told he only had a few days to live. But Red was a fighter and he gained strength and weight and is now a beautiful dog who appears to be a mix of perhaps a Visla and lab..who knows. He is 3 years old, neutered and has had all of his shots. Red will need someone who will take the time to visit him several times, spend time petting him and gaining his trust. Once he knows you, he is incredibly loyal and affectionate. He is fine with other dogs and we do not have cats here, but I imagine he would be OK.
