Adoptable Dogs

If you are hoping to adopt a rescue dog, keep a few things in mind. Most of the dogs who come to us have had a difficult journey and need love, understanding, and patience. You can consider them as new students who need to learn to adapt to your home. They will be scared, and might have accidents, might even growl, not eat at first or be just the opposite. We try to learn as much as we can at SCARS so we can pass the information on to a new owner. We wish they came with more information about their life, but unless they are an owner surrender, we simply do not know their past. We can only go forward promising each dog that the day they arrive here is the first day of their life.

Rules to remember:
They take...
3 days to decompress,
3 weeks to learn routines, and
3 months to feel fully at home.
