Adopted*** Dover ***Adopted
When I first saw Dover, she was in a filthy pen with a dried
out peanut butter and jelly sandwich thrown in. She was desperate for attention and
lonely. Some kind neighbors lobbied
on her behalf, and freed her from prison.
The first day she went on our website she hit the jackpot. A wonderful couple summering in Minnesota
saw her, loved her and drove 9 hours the next day to adopt her. Since
I doubt she is coming back to Kansas, I am posting this picture. This
couple will make it work!
Dover is an 8 month old, female, Blue Heeler/ Aussie mix. She is up to date on shots, spayed and
weighs 30 lbs. Dover was left in a
dirty pen the first 8 months of her life with no companionship at all. Kind neighbors asked the owner for her
release, and she came to us. We are
just now learning about her, but this is what we know so far:
*she is friendly and loves everyone
* she is high energy but will calm down with exercise
* she is really cute!!!
Adopted*** Lilly and Skeeter ***Adopted
Lily and Skeeter's owner passed away
and they had nowhere to go. One of
their relatives contacted us, and we took them in. They were so dependent on each other and
played and slept together, that we hoped someone would take them both. We were so happy when we got a call from
a young couple who wanted them together!!!
So far, so good and we are really thrilled they have a new family of
Skeeter is a 2 year
old, blonde, purebred Chihuahua. He
is neutered and housebroken, weighs 6 lbs, and is up to date on shots. Skeeter's owner
recently passed away and he and his pal, Lily (below), are readjusting to a
new life. He is more outgoing than
Lily, and has a beautiful soft, blonde coat.
Lilly is a 9 month old, female Italian Greyhound/Chihuahua mix.
She has a gorgeous coat of light lavender while her tiny feet are
white. She is spayed, up to date on
shots, and weighs 7 lbs. Lilly is
rather shy and just wants to bury her face in your neck and be safe! Her owner passed away recently so she and
her friend, Skeeter (above), are going through a
Adopted*** Patty Jean and
We had just about given up finding a home for these two pups when
the perfect owner happened to come along!!
She has a beautiful big fenced yard with lots of trees and they get to stay together! Al is coming out of his shell and she
says he sits in his pool all day cooling off. When we all went to visit, they were busy
exploring and did not seem upset when we left. Many, many thanks to their
Patty Jean and Al are 3 ½ year
old shepherd mixes. They are spayed
and neutered and really need to stay together. Al is shy at first but warms up once he
learns to trust you. Patty Jean is
friendly right from the get go. They have not been socialized with other
dogs and are very protective of their territory. They are in excellent health and need to
stay together as they love each other very much and have never been
separated. We think they would do
fine in a big yard or on a farm. They weigh about 55 lbs each and are up to
date on shots and heartworm. We do
not know if they are housebroken as they have spent most of their lives
Adopted*** Ansel ***Adopted
We are so thrilled that Ansel has
gone home with his very own family!
He came to us very upset because his owner could not keep him since he
chased chickens. Well, his new
family does not have any chickens, but they do have two little girls for
him to love and protect! He has a
big yard and is having fun in his new home. All reports are good!!
Ansel is a
gorgeous, male, Chocolate Lab/Weimaraner
mix. He is neutered, up to date on
shots, on heartworm prevention, and weighs about 65 lbs. Ansel is also trained in basic commands. He gets along well with small children
and other dogs. Ansel has been
living on a farm and, unfortunately, had a run-in with of the farmer’s
chickens. We hope a wonderful family
will come along to give him a forever home....without chickens!!
Adopted*** Duke ***Adopted
SCARS received a phone call that someone in the country had
found a boxer who was very thin.
They had him in a pen, but were soon moving and could not keep
him. SCARS took him in and had him all fixed up at the vet. We waited for the right home which
suddenly came along!! A college
student living with her parents decided she and her family needed a dog,
and they loved the picture of Duke.
All reports are glowing!!!
Duke has found his home.
Duke is a two
year old, fawn colored, male Boxer.
He weighs about 60 lbs. but is still a bit underweight. Duke is
housebroken, neutered, up to date on shots, and heartworm negative. He gets along great with kids and other
dogs and is extremely well behaved in the house. Duke came to a family as a
stray found out in the country and stayed there for a while. They were
unable to find his owners and finally felt they could not keep him as they
were moving. He is now with us and
will make a wonderful pet for some lucky family!!
Adopted*** Banjo ***Adopted
When I write a book, the chapter on Banjo just might be the
most memorable. One day last summer
we realized a dog was on our property that had come in, and could not get
out. We could not catch him in spite
of months of effort by neighbors and friends. He hid in the ravine triggering a need
for emergency doghouses and food set up in various locations on the
acreage. One day he emerged, unannounced, and ran up to the house and two
of our dogs attacked him thinking he was an intruder. Although not badly injured, he ran back
to the woods and we could not catch him.
Ultimately, his rescue involved two middle aged women, a catch pole,
a teenage girl, hot dogs and a worn out CPA home from work. The rest goes like this.....off to the
emergency room for IV's, a week at our vet on IV's because infection had
set in from hiding in the woods for three days, and two vet students from K
State who offered to foster him in Manhattan, KS. Today Banjo is well and happy and living
with a nursing student and his fiancé, a vet student from K State. He has given up his career as a wild blue
heeler on the prairie and has become a fussed over apartment dog getting
daily walks. You see why I say he
will be a main character in my book??
Banjo is a gorgeous purebred, male Blue Heeler. He is 3 year old, neutered and
housebroken. He has been through a
traumatic time but is doing much better now. Banjo needs a quiet home with
someone he can bond with and love.
He has so much to give and, like most Blue Heelers, he will
bond with one person eventually. He is playful and gets along well with
everyone. If he is with another dog, he needs to be introduced sensibly. He
is just a great dog in every way, and very brave.
Adopted*** Harley ***Adopted
Harley's family had her since she was a puppy, but could not
keep her as a new family member became allergic. In addition, they had no
fence for their yard and she was spending too much time in a kennel. So,
they called us and we took her in and she loved running the 50 acres.
However, we could tell she needed her own home. Fortunately her new owners
saw her on the website and fell in love with her cute face and unusual
markings. So far they feel she is the perfect pet!!
Harley is a one
year old, housebroken and spayed American Bulldog/Labrador mix. She is very sweet, has lots of energy and
has an unusual coat which is considered a blue merle marking. In addition, she has a blue spot on each
eye. Her present owner has become
extremely allergic to dogs and does not want to give her up, but has no
choice. Harley will be a fun
addition to any family and a great playmate for kids or other dogs. Oh, by the way, she weighs 70 lbs so kids
should not be too little.
