Adopted*** Snoopy ***Adopted

Snoopy's mom had to move to assisted living, leaving him and his buddies without a home.We took them in and all have now been adopted!!Snoopy is definitely Mr. Personality and charmed his new family who decided he was the right dog for them. They promised to keep us updated on him and send pictures. We are happy he is finally settled in his new home.

Snoopy is a beautiful 3 year old, neutered and housebroken, male Chihuahua. He weighs about 10 lbs and needs a new home. Snoopy is up to date on shots, gets along well with dogs and cats, and has a fun personality. He loves pillows, by the way!

Adopted*** Ricky ***Adopted

Ricky got a bad deal.A new baby came along, and he found himself heading for the pound. The family felt he was too playful to be around the baby, and like so many other dogs, he was thrown out when a new member of the family arrived.SCARS found a great home for him with two little girls who love him very much and don't think he is too playful at all.In fact, he is very gentle and quiet and is even shy around the cats!We are glad he is safe and sound.

Adopted*** Buttercup ***Adopted

Buttercup languished in a city shelter for months, unnoticed. Her beautiful face and gentle personality just wasn't noticed until the teacher and her students rescued her and turned her over to us.I kept waiting for the perfect family and it sure came along...just in time for spring break!Buttercup has gone off with a family of educators (I love teachers since I was one for 25 yrs!!) and she is now in their loving family. They are thrilled she is housebroken and anxious to play with her canine sibling who is giving her the snob act so far....we know they will become buddies. We love happy endings!!

Listen to my story!I am a 40 lb Lab/Boxer/Border Collie mix...maybe, or just a good looking Heinz 57 variety.I am now spayed and up to date on all my shots, and Iím heartworm negative.I was lost and got picked up and taken to a city shelter where I waited for my family who never came to get me.I sat in the shelter for 4 months while the weather raged outside....such a nasty winter. The adoptions were slow, and although people thought I was pretty, they kept passing me by.I began to give up until a teacher came along with high school kids who were volunteers and she thought I was beautiful. She happened to foster for SCARS, and they agreed to have me transferred there so I could play and run with other dogs. Now I have high hopes of finding my forever family!! And...my name is Buttercup!

Adopted*** Sherlockians ***Adopted

Watson

Watson was one of the Chiweenies who became the Sherlockians! He was adopted by a family with another dog and a cat, and Watson had never seen a cat. They were not sure how he would react, but as it turns out, he tries to get the cat to play and we don't know if he has been successful or not!He has a human brother and sister and he seems to be quite spoiled!!We are happy to hear they are keeping his name as Watson, which seemed to fit him perfectly.

Mycroft

And then there were two.....that's right, only two Sherlockians left! A great young couple came to look for a companion for their dog who looks exactly like Freeman! So, while assessing personalities, it seemed to them that Mycroft would be the best fit. They like his cute curly tail and although he did not bond immediately with their dog, Samson, he will!!We wish him lots of happiness.

Mori

Mori was the last of the Chiweenies to get adopted. The oldest daughter wanted a female Chihuahua puppy for her 16th birthday but we did not have one.We had a year old male Chihuahua, which would never work. However, put a tiny pup in the arms of a loving teenager and who could resist those big eyes and ears? So, conferences were held and minds were changed, and Mori got to go off to his new home being spoiled by three kids and two parents. All reports are good!

Freeman

Freeman was the last of the great Sherlockians. However, one of our volunteers had her eye on him all along. I knew she kept hoping her would not get adopted, so she could take him making the excuse he missed his brothers and sisters. So,  here is he is with one of his many new human companions. He is now one of a growing number of dogs who inhabit the homes of various aunts, uncles, grandparents and their canine companions. Freeman, now known as Mickey, is one content little guy!!

We are known around SCARS as the Sherlockians! The reason being that we are named after the BBC Sherlock characters, in case you have not watched the show. Two of us are male Chiweenies (Chihuahua/Weiner dogs) named Watson (brown) and Moriarty aka Mori (black). We weight about 4 lbs and would love to live together as we are best buds.We are heartworm negative and up to date on our shots and, of course, neutered. We love to play and are NOT nippy like some of our breed. We arrived with two friends who are Chiratties (Chihuahua/Rat Terriers) who weigh about 7-8 lbs. They are older than we are, about a year, and they are also neutered. They have adorable curled tails and brag about them all of the time.Freeman is mostly white while Mycroft is mostly black.Mycroft is braver and more outgoing, Freeman likes to jump up into your arms and disappear into your coat.We were stuffed into a rather small house with lots of kids and the owners decided someone had to go! They kept the kids and off we went.It is ok now because we feel better and have gained weight and are ready to head to our new homes!

Adopted*** Boo Boo ***Adopted

When we agreed to take Boo Boo and JJ in the dead of winter, we did not know JJ had cancer nor did his owner.Four days after we took him, he died at K State University to our great sadness.Boo Boo had not only lost his home but his best friend. So, he went to one of our wonderful fosters who took him in and treated him like a member of the family.Along came the grandkids who fell in love with this precious little dog and have now decided to adopt him!!!!We are so happy that he has found his new home and, as you can see, is learning how to slide down a sliding board!

BooBoo is a 10 lb, neutered , housebroken 3 year old, male Chihuahua. Booboo's owner is ill and can no longer take care of him.He sleeps with her every night and she adores him.All she wants is for someone to love him and take care of him like she has.He is up to date on shots and  perfectly behaved. What a wonderful little companion he will make for someone.

Adopted*** Diesel ***Adopted

Thank you so much for selecting us to be Dieselís family! He is such a blessing to us already, and I donít know how we ever got along without him! He is so sweet, gentle and kind, and LOVES to snuggle! He is getting along great with our boxer girl, Edelweiss, and Iíve caught them snuggling on several occasions:)

And thank you for taking care of so many other dogs in need. You are such a blessing to them, Iím sure, and I canít wait to schedule a time to bring the whole family out to meet you and your whole furry family!

God Bless!

Diesel is a registered, one year old, neutered and housebroken, 70 lb., male Boxer. He is a beautiful brindle color and is absolutely adorable. He gets along great with other dogs and kids but his older sibling boxer is too rough on him. Diesel does not stand up for himself very well, so his family would prefer he go to a home where is an only dog or with another dog(s) who do not pick on him. We sure think he would make a great companion.

Adopted*** Rudy***Adopted

Rudy was not having any fun in his old home, according to the owner. He was just too cute and too much of a socialite to live in her quiet home.He came to SCARS and hung out with our dogs for a few months, and along came the perfect new mom for him!A young woman loved his looks and had always had Poms and when she met him she proclaimed "My, you are chubby!"However, his adorable personality won her over and she says they are getting along wonderfully well!!

Rudy is a 5 year old Pomeranian. He is neutered, 22 lbs, up to date on shots and totally housebroken. He gets along fine with other dogs and has been living in harmony with two cats! His owner feels he needs more exercise and socializing than she can provide. Rudy is really a cutie although on the waiting list for the next Weight Watchers class!

Adopted*** Goldie***Adopted

Goldie is our first adoption of 2014!!!!! She was waiting for the perfect home and it came along. Goldie now has a doggie sister (golden shepherd mix just  like her) two kids to love her and parents who understand the issues associated with rescue dogs. Goldie was "out of time" at  a local pound and the worker there called us. She is shy and needs time to get used to a new home and so far, all is well!!

Since our initial posting of Goldie on our website some months ago, she has grown and gained weight.Goldie is now a healthy 60 lbs.We have learned that she is standoffish at first when meeting new people, but once she knows someone, is warm and friendly. She still loves playing with other dogs and we have never seen a hint of aggression in her toward anyone.

Goldie is a one year old, female Golden Retriever mix.She is almost housebroken, spayed, up on shots and weighs about 40 lbs.Goldie was out of time as a stray at a rural vet's office when SCARS was called. As pretty as she is, it is amazing no one ever called to claim her, but they sure didn't.She can jump low fences and will - she still has a lot of puppy in her and hates being crated. She is well behaved in the house and actually rather quiet and calm overall. It will take some family with patience to help her grow up, but she is a wonderful dog.
